About NSS Mumbai
The National Space Society (USA) — Mumbai Chapter. India's premier grassroots space advocacy and education organization.
National Space Society
Originally founded as the National Space Institute in 1974 (based on the leadership of Wernher von Braun) and the L5 Society in 1975 (based on the ideas of Princeton physicist Gerard K. O'Neill), the two organizations merged to form the National Space Society (NSS) in 1987.
The National Space Society (NSS) is an independent, nonpartisan, educational, grassroots, non-profit organization dedicated to the creation of a spacefaring civilization. Widely acknowledged as the preeminent citizen's voice on space, NSS has chapters in the United States and around the world.
The society also publishes Ad Astra magazine, an award-winning periodical chronicling the most important developments in space, and organizes the annual International Space Development Conference (ISDC).
Est. December 2019
NSS (USA) - Mumbai started in December 2019 as a recognized and authorized chapter of NSS. Based in India's financial and technological hub, our chapter serves as a vital platform for students, professionals, and space enthusiasts to engage with the global space community.
We advocate for the sustainable development and settlement of space, focusing on how these advancements can better humanity on Earth and beyond. We believe India has a critical role to play in humanity's multi-planetary future.
"Space is the ultimate destination for humankind to orchestrate the creations of their heart and chisel the dreams within their minds."— Dr. Ravi Margasahayam, Chief Advisor · NASA (Ret.)
